This is the first of my monthly Blogs dealing
with issues relating to the current
economic recession, particularly unemployment.
Members are invited to add
their own comments, positive and negative. These
will be taken into account
in implementing and improving our Recession
Watch and JobShidduch
initiatives which are designed to help members
through the recession.
At present we have around 60 members registered under
the Shuls
JobShidduch
initiative. Around 5 have posted job vacancies. The
other 55 are presumably looking for work. We are very
keen to help them.
What we need urgently is:
For more members who have job vacancies (including
work experience
paid or unpaid) to register on the Website and
post job vacancies
For members who are looking for a job to post
a resume on the Website
as a basis for potential employers to review and then
hopefully initiate
contact with them
In the meantime, vacancies posted on JobShidduch
include:
Credit Controller for an Importer of food
products
Territory Sales Managers (2) for a Credit/Debit
Card processing and
banking service to independent retailers and charities
E-Commerce Sales and Marketing Managers (2)
for a company
providing chip and pin payment terminal and on-line
payment services
Associate Dentist (part time)
At the same time, separate resumes have been posted
by 2 members with
excellent credentials looking for the following positions:
Administration, Secretarial and PA
Bookeeper part-time
As with every shidduch the shadchen (the
JobShidduch Site Administrator
in this case) can only do so much. Each member looking
for work therefore
must do the best he or she can to present himself as
an attractive
proposition to an intending employer. So get those resumes
posted as soon
as you can!
Similarly, every prospective employer must present
himself or herself as
being an interesting employer with good work practices
and a meaningful
career path for intending employees. So bear this in
mind too when you post
your job vacancies!
